The Times of INDIA, Chennai edition launched today in Chennai. The Times of India (TOI) is a leading English-language broadsheet daily newspaper in India. It is owned and managed by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times Group). The newspaper has the widest circulation among all English-language broadsheets in India. The daily editions of the paper were started from 1850 as the Bombay Times and by 1861, the Bombay Times was renamed The Times of India. To celebrate the launch of their daily in Chennai, they were planned to co-sponsor A R Rahman Live in Chennai Concert on April 20th 2008. The Chennai edition of the daily costs Rs. 2/- per copy.

Shoaib out of IPL

A day after PCB smacked a 5 year ban on Shoaib Akthar today the IPL chairman Lalit Modi made it clear that Shoaib will not feature in any of the IPL matches till the PCB clears him on charges. The great loser by this IPL decision will be SRK, owner of Kolkata Knight Riders and Ganguly, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. SRK, owner of KKR bought Shoaib in auction for Rs. 1.82 crore. Anyhow, they have Ishant Sharma on their side to tighten the bowling side of the team. It is also a great disappointment for cricket lovers missing Shoaib Akthar in IPL.

In AIHT, they don’t allow any polluting vehicles inside the campus. Even for the construction and shifting process they use only bullock cart, popularly called as Mattu Vandi in Tamil Nadu.

From the very beginning, the Kuruvi team was maintaining the complete silent over the movie. The movie launch function went very calmly, not even press was engaged to the function. Finally, today the movie posters are out in Tamil and English dailies. Really, it is a great treat to the much awaited Vijay fans.

Hathway SET TOP BOX is FREE !!

Today evening I was watching television and all on sudden I saw a advertisement reporting that Hathway Set top box is free of cost with no hidden cost. Previously Hathway set top boxes was priced at Rs. 250 for viewers residing in own houses and Rs. 500 for viewers in rent houses. But, it seems like that now they have slashed those rates and it is free of cost. It is to be noted that still SCV ( Sumangali Cable Vision) Set top box is not free of cost, they advertise so but charges heavily. It is a good decision to go ahead with Hathway.

Greater Chennai Cable Game continues: SCV vs. Hathway

Sun Network launched Sun Direct, DTH service, few months ago which resulted in agitation from local cable operators from all over Tamil Nadu. Doing with this matter, Tamil Nadu Government promised to launch Arasu Cable vision. Government officials reported that cable connections all over tamil nadu will be undertaken by government itself by acting as a MSO(Multi system operator). But now Central government delays to take give a license to ACV, making it to act as a MSO and so ACV has already post-ponded for another three months. In the mean time, it is said that if ACV fails to get the status as MSO then the government will support Hathway by giving the tender to them, allowing to continue their service all over Chennai. In present, Hathway has only 10% of the chennai cable tv customers while remaining 90% of the traffic is controlled by Sun network owned SCV(Sumangali Cable Vision).

Offer[Fraud] Game :

Few days back SCV started to distribute their STBs(Set top box) at a price of Rs. 500 + Rs. 400 for smart card. In the mean time, Hathway started to distribute their STB at a free of cost including smart card and charging Rs. 100 + Rs. 5 per pay channels as a monthly charges. In reply to this now SCV also started to distribute the STBs for free of cost. Fraud game starts now, SCV ads are not clear to the customers like Hathway ad. Customers rushed to the local cable operators and realized later that SCV STBs is not free of cost that they are demanding Rs. 400 as a deposit amount, which is refundable(warning : Don’t get scammed!!!). This game was started in the middle of the last year between DMK and Maran brothers, and it continues still in various directions in various means. Anyhow, I hereby request the people of Tamil Nadu to be very careful regarding these cable issue, don’t be in hurry while getting STBs. If your area doesn’t have an Hathway distribution, don’t get disappointed, sources say that they are expanding they’re network, Hathway might reach your area anytime. Most of the cable operators are ready to switch to Hathway from SCV(SCAM Cable Vision). In present Hathway is available to areas like Velachery, K.K.Nagar, etc., and the official sources from Hathway said that it would reach Kodambakkam, Vadapalani, Saligramam and Virugambakkam within a month of time. In the mean time Tata SKY, dth service provider, has slashed their rates pricing at Rs. 2500 including installation charges. I’m repeating, don’t be in hurry while selecting between the service. Dual delight for BCCI

All Indian cricket fans should be very happy with the performance of the Indian team in Australia. India has beat the world champions on the Australian soil by winning two consecutive final matches against Australia. This is the first time ever, India winning in SCG [Sydney Cricket Ground]. In the mean time, India Under 19 team has won the Under 19 world championship beating South Africa. Obviously, this should be the dual delight for BCCI. Sharad Pawar and his colleagues must be very happy with their boys performance.

Rajnikanth’s biography

A biography of Tamil superstar Rajnikanth, penned by noted author Gayathri, was released here on Thursday.
Veteran journalist Cho S Ramaswamy handed over the first copy of the book to the superstar’s daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth.
Lauding Rajnikanth for his phenomenal success as an actor, Cho said Rajnikanth was a believer in spiritualism but he is not a spiritualist, an observer of politics but not a politician and an actor but not a showman.These qualities made him a great personality,” he added.
If Rajnikanth decided to enter politics, as per wishes of the people of Tamil Nadu, he would provide an honest government in the state and would develop it as one of the finest states in the country, Cho said.
Former Director of CBI D Karthikeyan said Rajnikant was a pleasant man to move with and a man of humility.
Soundarya Rajnikanth said she was “proud to be the daughter of a great man”.
Gayathri said Rajnikanth had narrated events of his life with great patience for the biography. “Youth have a lot to learn from him”.
The 59-year-old actor entered the film world in 1975. His ‘Sivaji the Boss’ was a roaring success in 2007.

Today, I visited the Sriperumbudur engineering colleges to invite them to our CSE department symposium and give them our symposium posters, with my friend, Poojith. It was really a happy and adventure ride on National Highway 4, popularly called as Bangalore highway. On the way, we saw many industries, factories and colleges. I was sitting back and Poojith was driving his bike, Yamaha G5, at 60 - 85 km/hr, really fast. But, then too we spend some time and took some snap shots of companies and impressing places on that highway. I would like to share the pictures with you, so see to it.
